TENDER FIELD FARM
Come relax and connect to nature,
either through Ecotherapy or camping in the woods.
The Farm is located on a quiet rural road yet close to town, a serene setting, surrounded by nature.
In summer, there is a no dig garden available to those who would like to visit the farm. The beauty of no dig, no power equipment is used. It's great for the planet and provides an abundance of organic vegetables during the growing season. For anyone who is using Ecotherapy a section of the garden could be used to plant herbs or vegetables as part of the therapy and for those who are hip camping the vegetables can be used to eat, if interested.
What is Ecotherapy?
Therapy using nature, whether it be walking, talking, sitting, finding natural items or exploring the land, can calm the nervous system and can create a safe place to examine thoughts and emotions. The natural world engages the senses, allowing the client to consciously become more present and self aware, encouraging new habits and ways of perceiving the self and old narrative.
Why Ecotherapy?
It can help with
Ecotherapy also helps with:
It seems that self care can be a selfish act, yet if we do not take the time for ourself it can lead to low self esteem, chronic fatigue, along with physical and mental health issues.
Self Care and Self Esteem
Anxiety:
Anxiety can be triggered by stress. Stress is relieved within minutes of exposure to nature as measured by muscle tension, blood pressure, and brain activity. Time in green spaces significantly reduces your cortisol, which is a stress hormone. Nature also boosts endorphin levels and dopamine production, which promotes happiness.
In nature, something as simple as holding a leaf can calm the nervous system and allow one to be more present. When in the present moment the mind is not worrying about that future.
Depression:
Direct sunlight and fresh air are two things you cannot find while indoors, and both offer numerous benefits for your mind and body. Natural sunlight exposure can improve your mood and overall self-esteem. Studies have shown that people’s brains have higher levels of serotonin on bright and sunny days, regardless if it was warm or cold out. Serotonin is your body’s natural mood stabilizer, and it helps reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety while boosting your mood. More studies suggest that UV light encourages melanocytes, the cell that produces dark skin pigment, to release endorphins, the body’s feel-good chemical.
Walking on a trail in nature is a great way to get sunlight, exercise and increase serotonin. Improve both your physical and mental health.
Fatigue
Research has shown that spending time in nature just 20 minutes in a day can be enough to significantly boost vitality levels. The presence of nature has an independent energizing effect above that of being outdoors.
The sounds and smells in nature have a profound impact on connecting to something larger than oneself. It can invigorate a sense of well-being.
Also Consider Hip Camp:
At Tender Field Farm, connect to nature and find ways to destress, calm both the mind and body. The farm sits on nearly 39 acres surrounded by woodlands. The Hip Camps are located along the trail in the woods. Enjoy the beaver ponds, small creek and relaxing places to sit and talk. In addition, at the end of the property and end of the logging road, enjoy a lovely distant view of Mt. Washington.
Enjoy the gentle sounds of nature, a babbling brook, various birds, breeze through the trees and a variety of forest vegetation. Different opportunities are available depending on the season. In spring the plants are just springing up from the ground and the brook is full force due to winter run off. Frog and birds sounds are abundant. In summer wild raspberries and blueberries line the trail. The forest is full of vegetation and wild life. You can also venture up to the farm garden and gather some vegetables if desired. Fall brings warm color to the leaves and the forest floor is easier to navigate. You can still have vegetables from the garden.Winter the camp sites are still offered. You may want to bring snow shoes or cross country skis. The views are unobstructed now that the leaves have fallen. In all seasons you can enjoy walking along the trail and creek to visit the beaver dams and or walk down the creek to view Mt Washington.
